9 Reasons Why Nigerian Men Cheat

Some men are unfaithful because they want control and power in the relationship, and cheating puts the ball in their court. Some men are just plain weak. They give into a s3xual affair, “simply because the opportunity presented itself and they weren’t strong enough to say no. Well, there are other reasons why men cheat, let’s look at nine reasons why Nigerian men cheat.

1. Statistics
Let’s face it. Almost 70% of Nigerian men, whether married or not, end up cheating on their respective partners. The reasons for their infidelity ranges from the excitement of the act to full-fledged adultery.

2. Age
Cheating is much more rampant for Nigerian men under 30. Experts believe that the recklessness of youth motivates most men to take risks on relationships that are secure just to explore a different flavour in life.

3. Class
When categorised according to the class structure, it is obvious that cheating is much more common in the upper and upper middle classes. Since the working class men are focussed on making ends meet, the luxury of entertaining or seducing other women is not viable. Therefore, the possibilities of infidelity in the working class are fewer.

4. Approach
The upper-class approach to seducing women has become a lot more different than the usual movies-and-dinner style. Men are more upfront about their requests. An average request entails a short trip, sightseeing, a weekend getaway, or just a direct ‘take-you-home’.

5.Factors
Infidelity in men is influenced by certain social and demographic factors like the tediousness of a long married life, a highly promiscuous s3x life before marriage, one’s location in the city, and peer influence. One is likely to cheat on their partner when away and in a metropolitan city.

6. Exceptions
In the same survey, respondents who had reported that their relationships were happy were the ones to report an infidelity occurrence with the same partner. This goes on to prove that a happy relationship is not the correct yardstick for asserting the chances for infidelity in Nigerian men.

7. Gratification
In comparison to women, men have lesser chances of seeking emotional gratifications in an affair. Men tend to look for the physical satisfaction that is otherwise absent in their relationships or marriages. Thus, extramarital affairs among married folk account for 30% of the total number.

8.Pornography
Internet p0rnography and their classification of ‘cheating’ p0rn have been stated as an influence for most men. Many p0rnographic channels fuel the thrilling idea of cheating on their spouse or partners. This provides a sense of thrill and invites a great number of experimental urges in men.

9. Divorce Rates
Infidelity is viewed much liberally in the contemporary times and most men think that it is not a ‘big deal’ to cheat, yet it is the reason behind 20% of the total percentage of marriage annulments in Nigeria alone.
One neither advocates nor sympathises with male infidelity. At the end of the day, cheating is an unfair treatment meted out to one’s partner. While some cultures can choose to take drastic steps to prevent cheating, there is nothing that one can do to change one’s sense of morality.

  1. You actually make it seem really easy with your presentation but I to find this matter to be actually something
which I feel I might never understand. It kind of feels too complex and extremely
huge for me. I am taking a look ahead in your next put up, I’ll try to get
    the cling of it!
